Proceeding details
Domestic violence and plea agreements
September 9, 2026
Background
A defendant represented by Advocate Ofir Sternberg faced proceedings in a domestic violence case, with prior convictions and an outstanding four-month suspended prison sentence.
Plea negotiations
During negotiations with the prosecution, the defense raised arguments concerning evidentiary difficulties. The parties subsequently reached a plea agreement that included an amendment of the indictment in the defendant's favor and an agreed sentence. The defendant admitted the amended indictment and was convicted of assaulting his partner and making threats.
Court decision
The court considered the agreement and the circumstances of the case, found the agreement balanced, and approved it.
Sentence
Three months of imprisonment were imposed for the current case. The four-month suspended sentence was activated partially concurrently, resulting in a total prison term of five months, calculated from the date of arrest according to Israel Prison Service records. A further six-month suspended prison sentence and a financial undertaking of NIS 3,600 were also imposed.
Outcome
The agreement combined an amendment of the indictment in the defendant's favor with partial concurrency in the activation of the suspended sentence, despite the defendant's criminal record.
